My journey at HP
During my tenure at HP, I embarked on a journey marked by innovation and strategic leadership, resulting in significant outcomes:
1. NEWTON - Enabling Self-Serve Analytics: I pioneered the development of NEWTON, an in-house Data Analytics Platform, from its conceptualization to its successful implementation. NEWTON empowered teams across the organization to harness the power of data through self-serve analytics.
2. Strategic Roadmaps and Execution: In my role, I was entrusted with planning Analytics & Data solution roadmaps. I ensured the flawless execution of these roadmaps through collaboration with a dedicated data engineering division, consisting of 10 highly skilled professionals. Together, we executed a series of sub-projects within the Hadoop Ecosystem, which included:
Data Connectors: We established FTP paths for seamless CSV/Txt file uploads, enhancing data accessibility.
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load): Leveraging Scala in Apache Spark, Python in Apache NiFi, and databases like MS SQL and Hive, we crafted robust ETL processes that were critical for data transformation and preparation.
Workflow Management: We employed Oozy Manager to streamline and automate complex data workflows, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
Data Modeling and Visualization: By utilizing tools such as R and MS Power BI, we empowered teams to derive actionable insights from data, promoting data-driven decision-making.
3. End-to-End Automation: My role extended to driving the end-to-end automation of business deliverables, encompassing critical company-wide metrics. This automation not only improved efficiency but also reduced operational overhead.
4. Deploying Machine Learning Models: We implemented machine learning-based forecasting models on the cloud, enhancing predictive capabilities and enabling data-driven strategies.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: I conducted user onboarding and live demos for stakeholders, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. I also actively accommodated feedback and created compelling funding pitches for Sales initiatives.
6. Effective Risk Management: Managing risks and interdependencies, resolving conflicts, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions under tight deadlines and within a high-pressure environment were daily responsibilities. These challenges were met with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
My journey at HP was characterised by groundbreaking achievements in data analytics and a relentless commitment to driving innovation. The outcomes of these initiatives not only elevated HP's analytical capabilities but also laid the foundation for a more data-centric and agile organization, ready to tackle the challenges of the future.
